Triumph TR3a

British Racing Green.

Very original late model TR3a.  Built in 1961 and first registered in New Zealand in April 1962.

After a brief inspection, the only non-original factory parts identified are a hi-torque starter motor and a replacement radiator (no hole for starting handle).  The car has the original worm drive steering so is heavier to drive at low speeds compared to an after market rack and pinion upgrade, however the car is quite manageable.  Air cleaners are authentic reproductions.

Period fog and spot lamps and luggage rack

Wire wheels (the original steel wheels with hub caps will be included when the car is sold).

Engine has been fully rebuilt recently - it runs smoothly with high oil pressure and pulls well.

Gearbox is original 4 speed, with no overdrive.  Gear selection is easy.

Interior is all original, including the original seats.

Hood, sidescreens and tonneau are all in excellent condition.

As well as the original steel wheels, there are some spares that will go with the car - coil, points, original style generator, distributor and other items, and extensive receipts for work carried out over the years.

The car displays a patina appropriate for its age.  There are minor blemishes to some of the paintwork, and a few small dents.  The interior also shows signs of wear - e.g. the piping around the seats, however these all add authenticity to the car.  In its current condition it is a lovely car to drive and a fine example of the marque.  For the purist it would need very few changes to bring it back to full originality, alternatively a respray and tidy up of the interior would bring it to near concours standard.

The car has a new WOF and registration and is currently located in Picton.
