A fully restored 1968 TR5.

Hello, let me tell you a bit more about me.

I’m an Original RHD, UK Home Market TR5 built on the 9th of January 1968, I was originally sold by F.J. Chalke & Sons from the Talbot Garage in Mere, Wiltshire UK.

Based on the TR5 Passion website I’m only one of approx. 400 left in the world from a total build of 2947 cars.

My original number plate LE1968 was issued when I was first register in New Zealand on the 31st of July 1974. The number plate is quite special given my year of build.

The engine is the original CP/556-E, 2500cc PI. My Commissioning Number is CP 674. I still wear my original colour with black trim.

I was carefully restored (body off chassis) in 2022/23 by Bob and Shirl Taylor. All effort was made to retain my originality, including but not limited to searching in the UK for a true TR5 metering unit, threaded injectors and a very rare original steering wheel. I also have a Type A overdrive gearbox and original drive train.

To be transparent I have had two changes made to my original specification these are: Uprated rear suspension and a modern fuel pump.

All inspections welcome and an extensive photo record of the restoration is available.

I recently won 2nd place in the TR4/5 standard class concourse in Christchurch at the TR Register National Weekend and the Peoples Choice award.
